Use Permit Ownership Notification

When an individual or company files for a use permit, the city or county planning department often requires that they provide a radius map, sometimes to scale, at a determined foot radius for property owner notification of business use permits.

This required foot radius can differ depending on the type of filing, whether it be an ABC or Alcohol License Notification, or Air Quality Notification, it may require a 300ft map, 500ft map, or up to a 1500ft radius map depending on the type of use permit being sought. They also can require an ownership list within the radius area and formatted mailing labels so that they can send a public notice to those individuals that there will be a public hearing, allowing them the opportunity to attend and voice concerns about what the applicant is seeking to do in the area.

  • Sometimes the city, state or county departments require that the occupants, as well as the property owners, must be notified; which is a challenge because it requires a physical inspection of the area to determine names of the residents in multi-unit buildings.
